Vineyard Key Milestones

In 1847, Joseph Gilbert planted the first vines at Pewsey Vale.

In 1862, Johann Christian Henschke settled near Keyneton and planted a small vineyard.

By the 1920s the southern parts of Eden Valley reverted to grazing, however the Henschke family retained their link with wine and in the 1950s began to market table wines to the eastern states.

Today the region is famous for its Riesling and Shiraz with Wolf Blass owning many great vineyards in the region.
